Students of colleges from Tirupur, Tanjore and Thiruvannamalai and other smaller TN towns are now protesting in and nearby bus stands of their towns. The protest stemmed from the fact that the government increased bus ticket prices to almost 1.5x times from the original price and is now considering a similar increase to establish for the bus pass. After the dire strike that transport employees had levied in the last few weeks, bus fare ticket prices have increased drastically overnight. It should also be noted here that bus fare raises have not been introduced for more than 7 years although other Indian states have done so.
