Skincare in 5 Simple & Effective Steps: How To Layer Your Beauty Products?

Try this 5 step routine!

Less is more when it comes to your skincare routine, a 16 step double cleanse isn’t required and isn’t possible for most of us in the morning. A crisp routine that is practical and sustainable should be the priority. The beauty industry is flooded with products for each skin type catering to your every need. Whether you have oily skin, dry skin, mature skin or sensitive skin, the formulations are tailor made to help you. Here is a simple 5 step routine that you can adopt in your daily routine and get happy, glowing and healthy skin.

Tip : Lightest product goes first and the heaviest goes last.

Cleanser

It’s the first step of your skincare routine and must be done regularly to get desired results. A cleanser is milder than a face wash but you must pick one that works for you. Cleansers, as the name suggests, cleans your skin and provides a clean slate for the products to seep in. Splash your face with water first, and then go ahead with a cleanser.

Toner

Once you’ve stripped your face of the dirt and dead cells, it’s time to replenish the moisture and hydrate. Each type of toner delivers a different result, hence pick one tends to your skin. It helps restore the pH balance of your skin after washing it with a face wash or cleanser.

Serum

These are concentrated nutrients that aid healthier and happier looking skin. A Vitamin C serum is ideal for day time, but you must assess what your skin requirements are first. A serum can do many things, provide antioxidants to your skin, prevent inflammation, reduce redness, boost collagen, even out skin tone etc.

Moisturiser

Oily skin girls should look for lightweight, water or gel based moisturisers whereas dry skin needs cream based formulas. Moisturisers have been a staple skin care product in our lives. Now with the addition or actives, serums, oils etc, moisturisers are simple and to the point.

Sunscreen

This is the absolute last step of your skincare routine, wear it as an armour against the sun. SPF 30 is the bare minimum, with the various types of formulations available in the market, there is no excuse to not using a sunscreen. There are two types of sunscreens available – physical and mineral. Physical blockers or mineral sunscreens are ideal for sensitive skin.
