More than half of 2023 has passed by and we are officially in August. August is special, it’s the beginning of the festive season. From now, until the end of the year, festivals and celebrations will be around every corner. In the midst of all this, numerous shows and movies are going to stream on various OTT platforms. To help you create a watchlist calendar, we have recommendations.

Depp Vs Heard –  Netflix

A documentary series with three episodes, Depp Vs Heard shares the proceedings of the case filed by Johnny Depp against his former spouse, Amber Heard. It is directed by BAFTA nominee filmmaker Emma Cooper. The conversation and the controversy surrounding the high-profile case will be seen in this series.

Guns and Gulaabs – Netflix

Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Rajkumar Rao and Adarsh Gaurav, this is a comedy series by the filmmaker duo Raj Nidimori and Krishna DK. It’s set in the 1990s and is a guaranteed nostalgia trip.

Mathagam – Hotstar

Starring Atharvaa and Manikandan, the upcoming series revolves around an IPS officer who takes on a criminal ring. Atharvaa plays the cop and Manikandan plays the gang leader. It’s a typical cat-and-mouse game that unfolds in a time frame of 30 hours.

Taali – Jio Cinema

Headlined by Sushmita Sen, the show depicts Gauri Sawant’s bold struggles, from her identity crisis to pioneering the inclusion of the transgender in India’s official documents. Join her path of resilience, from life-threatening operations to embracing motherhood, as she champions rights for herself and others in this unique series.

Aayirathonnu Nunakal – Sony Liv 

Aayirathonnu Nunakal (Thousand and One Lies), a Malayalam thriller directed by KV Thamar, delves into a group of friends reuniting to celebrate an anniversary. Laughter turns to tension when a truth and dare game takes an unexpected turn, leading each to confess the lies they’ve told their partners. As secrets unravel, complications arise, making for a gripping drama.
