8 Things to do with your Girl Gangs!

Time for girl’s night out!

Women rely on friends. It is from them that we draw support, camaraderie and find safety. They say nothing lasts forever, dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style. We can count on our women friends when we need a good laugh or a good cry and definitely when we want to have some FUN!!

That women have more fun with their squad minus any male presence is a fact that women have always known and men have always envied. Just being with your girlfriends is therapeutic with all the giggling, joking, a little gossip, griping about bosses and in-laws, it is a list of talking subjects that knows no end. This Friendship Day, get together with your gang of girls and get ready to do things other than the usual shopping and eating. Here are some of our suggestions for this Friendship Day.

Get pampered:

Every woman needs a salon visit for there really is no high like that of looking good. Blow dried hair, manicured nails, foot massage and detox facial. You can book a cabin in the spa and get your treatments done together so you can keep the girly chatter going on and help your bestie decide what colour to paint her nails. This is a perfect combination of “me” and “our” time. When the mirror attests you look like a diva, it sure means your time was well spent.

Now we’re cooking:

Dining out is a fabulous idea as always but, let why not take on the whole experience? Join a cooking class of a totally new cuisine or one that all of you like. It would be a fun way of bonding and eating what you made is definitely going to be a very satisfying experience. If the chef is handsome, that would be the icing on the cake.

Travel to a new place:

This is an absolute must do as often as you can. It does not matter whether you travel to an exotic location or a neighbouring city, for it is the joy of discovering a new place together that counts. Trying out the local cuisine, shopping in local markets, dancing till the wee hours of the morning and waking up the next day just in time for lunch qualifies for a great time out with your gal pals. Being away for a few days simply extends your fun times together.

Try a new activity together:

It could be anything from karaoke singing, bungee jumping, surfing, pole dancing, diving or learning a new form of dance. Being with your friends brings out the best in you and learning a new skill together can be oodles of fun.

Slumber party:

Ditching the heels and makeup for pyjamas and flip flops can be a welcome change indeed. Watch movies from your teenage days like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Rambo, Notebook, etc., as you munch on popcorn and sip on some decadent wine. Play a game of truth or dare (this can be real fun if you had a bit too much of wine). End it with a pillow fight.

Attend a concert:

There sure is going to be a concert in town (organisers know it is Friendship Day) and hopefully one that you and your friends have been eagerly waiting for. People who attend concerts regularly live longer, claims a study, as it boosts feelings of well being, establishes closeness to others and opens up the mind. We are sure the exhilaration that comes from letting your hair down and driving yourself into a frenzy as you scream yourself hoarse, lip syncing your favourite song is the cause for it and having your friends with you can make the experience even more thrilling.

Spend the day a la Sex and the City:

This show really set some sky high girl gang bonding goals and Friendship Day is a good day to emulate it. Dress up, wear your sky high heels, ravishing red dress, jazz it up with loads of attitude as you splurge on anything that catches your fancy, dance till your legs give away, drink your favourite booze, dine at the expensive restaurant you have been dying to eat at, check out the guys, crack jokes, talk loudly, giggle till you feel giddy and just have a whale of a time.

Have a potluck at home:

If your friends are all on various diets like no carb, no sugar, only vegan etc., etc., then it would be a great idea to have a potluck at a friend’s place, ideally the one that has a pool. Turn on some music, bring out the barbecue and have a blast with some water guns. Being in a private space can lower your inhibitions and bring out the wild child in you.

Friendships are one of the most important relationships you will ever have in your life so cherish them and make memories that bring a smile to your face every time you think about the wonderful times you spent with your soul sisters.
