  1.  Neru

In “Neru,” the protagonist, a young blind girl named Sara, hails from a middle-class family in Kerala. She resides with her stepfather, mother, and herself. When Sara falls victim to rape in her own home by a stranger, the story swiftly unfolds as she aids the investigation by sculpting the perpetrator’s face. The film eschews prolonged pursuit or search for the culprit, as the police promptly apprehend him. The accused happens to be a wealthy, entitled individual who secures the services of the country’s top lawyer, portrayed by Siddique. On the opposing front stands the survivor’s attorney, brilliantly portrayed by Mohanlal, delivering a poised yet impactful performance that resonates with each screen appearance.

2. Cheran’s Journey

The first Tamil series of this year is Journey streaming on Sony Liv. It starts with 5 candidates who have applied for the same job at a big automobile company. It’s set off with them waiting to be called for their interviews. What is the story of these individuals? Who are they and what is their character? The series is a very refreshing setup but is an out-and-out drama. You will be hooked from the first episode. Starring Prasanna, Sarath Kumar, Kalaiyarasan, Divya Bharathi, Aari Arjunan, Kashyap Barbhaya, and Jayaprakash, the show is a promising one.

3. Killer Soup

Starring stalwarts Konkana Sen Sharma and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead, the series is a thriller genre show that is quite the twisted tale. Prabhakar, played by Manoj Bajpayee is married to Swathi, played by Konkana Sen Sharma. They are in a loveless marriage where both cheat on each other. When Prabhakar finds his wife and his look-alike masseuse red-handed, he loses his temper. What happens in a fit of rage, and what is their backstory, form the plot of the series.

4.Fight Club

The movie starts with Benjamin ( Kartheekeyan Santhanam) and their friends current generation of North Madras youngsters who want nothing to do with rowdyism and drugs and train the next gen of young boys to be sportsmen. Selva ( Vijay Kumar), a talented young footballer looks up to Benji and trains under him. But the fate of Selva and the young boys of North Madras changes as Benji’s brothers, Joseph (Avinash Raghudevan) and Kiruba ( Shankar Thas) kill him. Years after, Selva is now a hot-headed youngster and is in college and love with Shailu (Monisha Mohan Menen). He has a group of friends with no luck in training in a football club because of his anger issues. He is often suspended from football matches and kicked out of his football club. His gang and Karthi’s ( Saravana Vel) gang are rivals and Karthi is also Kiruba’s brother–in–law.

5. Hi Nanna

Starring Nani, Mrunal Thakur and Kiara Khanna in the lead, the movie is about the endearing father-daughter bond. It’s a film that has emotions, drama, love and centrally, the importance of familial bonds. The movie is an out-and-out family watch that will make you feel every emotion possible. Watch it for its surreal story, story-telling and beautiful film-making.

6. The Brother’s Sun 

This 8-episode series is a fun family thriller show. Starring the brilliant Michelle Yeoh in the lead, the series is a very culture-driven family story that will take you on a risky but adventurous ride. The series also showcases Chien and Li, two exceptionally talented individuals poised to enrich our screens for years to come.

7. Kaathal-The Core 

Omana (Jyotika) and Mathew(Mammootty) have been married for 20 years and have a 19-year-old daughter studying in college. From the first scene at the church, one wonders why there isn’t a crackling chemistry between the two leads of the film. As the movie progresses, you understand that it’s intentional. They have drifted apart, or have always been apart in their marriage. They have genuine concern for each other, love for family, and are duty-bound individuals but what they don’t have is companionship. When Mathew stands as a candidate for the by-election, Omana files for divorce from him. What happens next, what are her grounds for divorce, will they, won’t they? All these questions form the plot of the movie.

8. Philips

Directed by Alfred Kurian Joseph and written by Mathukutty Xavier and Alfred Kurian Joseph, this family entertainer stars Mukesh, Anna Ben, Noble Babu Thomas, and Vinay Forrt. The story revolves around this family where Mukesh is the father who is widowed but keeps his family upbeat with his spirit and happy-go-lucky nature. Their life takes an unforeseen turn when an outside case affects their family.

9. Salaar 

The much-awaited film starring Prabhas, Prithviraj, and Shruti Haasan in the lead promises to be action-packed. It’s from the makers of the film KGF which was an instant blockbuster. It’s the story of two friends who are as close as brothers turning into foes. If you are looking for an action-packed entertainer, then this one is the right pick for you.

10. Sam Bahadur

Starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh, this is a biopic that covers the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is set amid the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 where Sam Manekshaw was instrumental in the strategic campaign to liberate Bangladesh.
