While long vacations are a luxury of time, a fun and fantastic holiday is a little closer and shorter than you think. With a Paris in Pondy, Scotland in Coorg, you have nothing to worry about.  Whether you’re a couple, family or an adrenaline junkie solo traveller, here are four spots you can spend your next weekend at.

For The Romantic: Coorg

Just a short ride away from Bangalore, Coorg is a perfect escape from city life and pollution, the breath of fresh air is sure to get anyone rejuvenated and ready for the busy days that lie ahead. Camping in Coorg is an enticing experience. Pitching tents in the middle of scenic location and waking up to the song of birds, you can’t imagine the tranquillity of it. Nestled amid thick forests and coffee plantations Abbey Falls is the most gorgeous among all the silvery waterfalls in Coorg. It’s situated 7km away from Madikeri town and is a must visit. Your trip to Coorg is not complete without a visit to the plantations. There are several quaint resorts that are located amidst these that’ll make for a great romantic stay.

For Leisure:  Gokarna

Picture this; soft sand, gentle breeze, sound of waves, sipping a cooler. If this is your calling, grab your summer hat and sunscreen to hit the beach to beat the heat this weekend. Gokarna is a small little town situated on the Western Coast of India and is best known for its untouched beaches. You need the least efforts for this place. Just chill and do nothing and you’ll still be having so much fun. Most of the beaches in Gokarna are quiet and peaceful with a mesmerising view and brimming cafes. Om beach is one of the most popular beaches and is covered with shacks, huts, and cafes for the perfect lazy day. Gokarna also offers’ several beach treks and yoga retreats that are sure to push the ‘refresh and restart’ buttons of your life.

For The Adventurous: Dandeli

For all, you wild, adventure loving adrenaline junkies out there, Dandeli wildlife is your retreat for the weekend. Sprawled across more than eighty thousand acres in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, Dandeli wildlife sanctuary is an exhilarating escape. Apart from extreme jungle safaris and camps, there are a number of water activities that one can indulge in. From river crossing, kayaking to the beautiful coracle rides in the Kali river, Dandeli is not a place that allows you to just sit and enamour its bejewelling beauty.

The safaris include, travelling in an open jeep with experienced guides who will take you deep into the natural habitat of wild animals, exotic birds and rare reptiles. White water rafting in Dandeli is definitely the most exciting attraction. If you are looking for something even more nerve-wracking, mountain rappelling and wild terrain biking will do the trick.

Other attractions involve Kavala caves, Magod falls, Molangi falls, Syntheri rock,  Shivaji fort.

For The Picturistic: Pondicherry 

Planning a picture-perfect weekend to fill your Instagram feed? With colonial-era buildings, churches, beaches, colourful cute cafes and French architecture, Pondicherry is a world away weekend getaway. Soak under the sun at Beach; visit the Pondicherry museum for a glimpse into history; witness the peaceful life at Auroville.

Pondicherry also has the best food. Every lane and road is filled with little cafes with delicious delicacy. While you can go the ‘French way’ with the Français and fine wine, try other cuisines like Vietnamese, Italian or just a good pizza etc, you won’t be disappointed.
