The teenaged girl was sexually abused for over a year, resulting in pregnancy, the police added. The youth in his early 20s had assaulted the girl when their parents were away, they said.
This incident came to light when the girl’s school teacher suspected she was pregnant. She admitted the girl to a hospital where her pregnancy was confirmed. On questioning, the girl narrated the incident and a police case has been registered under the Protection Of Children against Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act against her brother and are on the lookout for him.
However, this is not the first time that such a case has come to light. It may be recalled that a similar case was reported in Pune, where a man raped his 17-year-old sister. The victim also gave birth to a baby boy. However, the accused was arrested.
Another incident was reported in Kashmir, where in September 2018, a decomposed body of a 9-year-old girl was found in a forest. It was reported that the girl’s half mother was allegedly the mastermind behind her death. The girl was raped multiple times, strangulated, and then had her eyes gouged out. Police investigations revealed that the 9-year-old was raped by her minor half-brother and his friends, under his mother’s instructions. The girl’s half mother was taken into custody.
