A historic decision after all, ICC announced that the teams competing in ICC events, men and women will receive equal prize money. Chairman of the International Cricket Council said in a statement, “ This is a significant moment in the history of our sport and I am delighted that men’s and women’s cricketers competing at ICC global events will now be rewarded equally.”

In India, the inaugural Women’s IPL was held this year in March as a step towards diversity and inclusivity. Like their male counterparts, the women cricketers would receive 15 lakhs for a test match, 6 lakhs for an ODI match and 3 lakhs for a T20 match, as per the initiative. The promised amount is considerably large when compared to what women were getting earlier. Settlements like these would make the sport a more viable option for future cricketers.
