Well done Chennai!

Every year the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) releases the statistics of crimes recorded across the country. For 2015, Chennai has been declared the safest city in the country recording the least number of crimes among the metro cities. Statistics show that as many as 35,576 crimes were reported in Bengaluru after New Delhi (1.73 lakh cases), Mumbai (42,940), Kolkata (23,990) and Hyderabad (16,965). With 13,422 cases, Chennai is the safest metro city in the country, according to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Time and again, NCRB statistics have proved that Chennai is one of the safest cities for women in India. Dowry cases, rape, molestation were comparatively lower than other metros like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi. However the city had its share of shame as it topped the cases registered under the POCSO, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. There has been a sharp increase of 11 percent in the number crimes against children as compared to the previous year.
