Necklines and necklaces
A simple guide to matching your jewellery with your outfit is here. Little did we know that the neck design of our garment determines the kind of necklace one should pair it with. Starting with the basic, square neckline can be paired with almost any type of necklace. Since it’s broad but an angular neck, wear a necklace that’s close to your neck exposing your collarbones. A v-neck top and accessorised with a long delicate chain with or without a pendant. A turtle neck or a closed neck is tricky since most people wear a choker or a close neck piece which is an absolute ‘No’. Wear a long chain, something with extra length that falls till your waist. This will give a you a lean look. Off shoulders or a dropped shoulder or a tube top can be worn best with a choker. This gives you the illusion of a longer neck and the bare shoulders will look sexy. If you are fond of chunky over sized necklaces, then it’s best to wear them with a boat neck or a crew neck. Keeping it simple with a statement jewellery is the best bet.
Sunglasses
The three ground rules to picking shades are size, style, and trend. More than an accessory, sunglasses help protect eyes from radiation so never compromise on the quality of one. For a round shape, the right sunglasses would be the ones with some pointy sides. Wayfarers and cat eyes are a great option. For oval, the right shape would be a cat eye or aviators. For a rectangular shaped face, the right style would be aviators or round frame glasses. It’s always a good idea to try out multiple frames before picking the right one.
Bag-it
Handbags, totes, clutches, hip bags, minaudière… in short, bags are also a very important accessory. Most of us carry it because of its high functionality but with the range of beautiful handbags in the market, it has become a sought after accessory. Beige, tan or camel, the colour is a universal colour that goes with anything you wear. Consider where you’re going and chose a bag accordingly. A movie or a date means you need a small bag for your wallet , phone and some essentials. Always carry a shimmery purse with ethnic outfits, a boring tan handbag will only kill the vibe. Shopping , errands and work equals a big tote bag that can carry almost everything.
Belts
The right size, shape and colour of your belt can take an outfit from drab to fab in seconds. A nice wide belt over an A line dress will accentuate your waist . A thin shiny belt to a saree can bring out the chic side of the traditional attire. If you’re wearing a tank top, jeans and a shrug, accessorise with a solid colour belt over the shrug. It’s an instant pick-me-up and takes your style game up a notch.
