A Woman’s Half-Naked Body Was Found In Chennai’s Marina Beach

Police form special team to nab criminal.

The body of a middle-aged woman’s half-naked body was found in Chennai’s Marina Beach. Initial investigations suggest that the woman was a sex worker. According to The News Minute, the woman’s body was found on Sunday morning by walkers. She had injuries on her neck and chest, with her body lying on the sand near the Chennai Corporation Swimming pool

Soon after morning walkers found her body, they immediately alerted the Anna Square police following which it was taken for postmortem. Inquiries by the police state that the woman was last seen accompanied by four autorickshaw drivers to the spot where she was found murdered. However, the lack of lighting and CCTV cameras makes it rather difficult to narrow down, with the police forming a special team for this case.

People who reside by the beach say that the area is not as secure as it used to be. It is reported that in the last six months, crimes have increased in the area with sex workers taking to the beach after 6 PM. The public tend to leave the beach early thus paving way for anti-social activities.

By Sunday evening, police had detained five men for questioning. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman. A few police officers told The New Indian Express that it was difficult to keep a watch on suspicious people at night as they would pretend to be homeless people looking to sleep on the beach.
