This spine-chilling news is sad as it is alarming. The couple had twins named Nithya and Nidarsh who died with her. According to reports, Ganesh had been harassing his wife for additional dowry after the birth of their children. His demands kept increasing and he even assaulted Soundarya when they were not met.
Ganesh works as a barber at a hair salon in Padmarao Nagar. Under the government’s Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, Soundarya received a sum of 1 lakh rupees. The scheme was introduced to prevent child marriages in the state. Ganesh began troubling Soundarya and her family for the money and some additional land that belonged to her and her sister.
On Monday, the two had met at the hair salon which ended up in an argument. The unfortunate events transpired as a result of their fight. According to the Dowry Prohibition Act, offering or accepting dowry in any form is a cognisable offence. The Gandhi Nagar police registered a case against Ganesh under IP section 304b, dowry death and 498 a, domestic abuse.
