The much-hyped teaser of the sci-fi drama 2.0 is out and it is evidently bigger and better than the previous outing, Enthiran. After months and months of delay, the teaser was released on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, with the makers offering a 3-D view of the teaser at various cinema halls and multiplexes to get the full experience of it.

Directed by Shankar Shanmugham, the film stars Rajinikanth who reprises his roles as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti the robot. The antagonist in this film is played by Akshay Kumar who is making his Tamil cinema debut. Amy Jackson and Adil Hussain are part of the cast, too.

The teaser begins with the mobile phones of people being taken away by some strange magnetic force. People who are taking selfies or talking over the phone are suddenly having their phones snatched, and all those millions of phones get accumulated to form one giant hawk with Akshay Kumar’s face embellished on it.

And who’s there to save everybody from this evil force? Chitti the robot!

The teaser shows that unlike Enthiran, this film will have twice the amount of graphics and drama. The film has around 11,000 VFX shots and each shot is being worked upon with a lot of care. Made on a huge budget of Rs 450 crores, the film’s audio launch happened in Dubai last year. Music is composed by AR Rahman.
