Director VetriMaaran’s Visaranai, a crime thriller produced by actor Dhanush made a huge hit on screen and also won a number of awards. The film holds the pride of being the First Tamil film Screened in Venice international Film Festival. The journey did not end there as it entered the 89th Academy Awards for  the Best Foreign Language Film. The film that qualified the first round of selections which had a total of 85 films lost in the next round, where only nine films were chosen for actual nominations and Visaranai couldn’t make it to the final nominations of the 89th Academy Awards. Despite the misfortune, the Indian fans have encouraged VetriMaaran with tweets wishing him good luck for his next film. The director’s next film is ‘Vada Chennai’ starring Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, Amala Paul and Andrea.
