The most spectacular and the most expensive wedding of the year is underway in Mysuru. This wedding is a royal union between the prince of Mysuru and the princess of Rajastan. Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, a graduate of Boston University, was crowned Maharaja of Mysuru last year. The new prince will marry Trishika Kumari Singh, of theDungarpur royal family from Rajasthan. Yaduveer was adopted by the widow of the previous Mysuru King who was childless. The Wodeyar dynasty has ruled over the Mysore kingdom for nearly six centuries.

 

The royal wedding will have the stamp of the royal traditions dating back to almost 500 years. A group of 40 priests will officiate in the ceremonies, which will be witnessed by nearly 1,000 guests at the Kalyana Mantapa, the venue of all Wadiyar weddings. The wedding is on June 27, but the celebrations have begun already. The Mysuru palace will remain closed till June 30th for the celebrations. The palace will be lit this entire week for the wedding celebrations. Dusshera is the most grand festival of the Mysuru Palace and this wedding is expected bigger than the Dusshera fest. The reception will be held at the palace on June 28 and at the Bengaluru Palace. There is a dress code for the invitees attending the reception, which includes white or black long coat, white trousers, ‘valli’ and turban, or lounge suit. Top politicians and celebrities are expected to take part in the week long functions.
