“Stop Disrespecting Women Or Get Out”: Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Slams The Casting Couch!

Listen up, Ladies

We have all been the spectators who refrain from being a part of the film industry or media as a whole because we hear stories about women being taken advantage of to reach a certain height. While some stories might be true, some might not. But, what have we, as women, done to eradicate objectification of women in the industry? Kollywood actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, the daughter of actor and politician Sarathkumar, wrote an open letter to the casting couch and other parts of the film industry and television, who look at women as a piece of meat. Here is what she said:

Amazingly written and what a strongly worded message, right?

Inappropriate sexual advances in the name of sexual favors have been happening not just in the film industry or media, but also in various workplaces and only, as Varalaxmi said, if we stand up against it and raise our voices will we get back a solution. Fighting for a good cause in unity always ends well. Varalaxmi was last seen in the movie ‘Tharai Thappattai’ alongside Sasikumar and directed by ‘Pithamagan’ fame Bala.
