Today’s lathi charge to disperse the Jallikattu protesters turned ugly and the scenario was harsh and rough. Deeply saddened by the situation, Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth expressed his grief. In a recent press statement, he said, “The way youngsters, women and all Tamilians spearheaded the historic Jallikattu protest with great discipline must be inscribed with golden words in the Indian history. While our protest is inching towards victory and everyone is lauding us, it’s disheartening to see things which are happening now”.

He further added, “As both State and Central Governments, Retired Judges and legal experts have given assurance for the permanent law for Jallikattu, we should believe them and maintain decorum”.

“I am deeply disturbed by today’s event. Let the govt do its work. We should respect it and let them do their duty. Few anti-social elements have now intruded among you to ruin the good name earned through the protest. I humbly request everyone to dissolve the agitation by respecting Tamil Nadu cops, who have been a great support for the Jallikattu protest”, Rajinikanth concluded.
