Twin Birds Presents JFW Movie Awards 2020: An Unforgettable Night With Impeccable Style And Substance!

An exclusive awards show for women-based categories in cinema!

The Second edition of JFW Movie Awards 2020 was yet another unforgettable night. The JFW Movie Awards presented by Twin Birds and Powered by Yamaha Fascino 125Fi, co-presented by Prithvi inner wears, Lakshmi Ceraamics, Tamil Matrimony, Colour Partner Nippon Paint, Associate sponsor Joyalukkas, skin and hair sponsor Zi Clinic, luxury partner Titanium motors and radio partners Radio One and FEVER FM was a success beyond imagination. The Award ceremony was one-of-a-kind (that was acknowledged by all the celebrities present) and was a huge hit.

It was a star-studded evening and a night worth remembering. The sets were chic and extravagant. Looked like they could literally set the stage on fire. The atmosphere was well lit for the phenomenal evening.

The event saw a huge lineup of the best of the best from the Tamil Film Industry. Among the awardees and presenters at the event were actresses Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh, Simran, Revathi, Meena, Shraddha Srinath, Megha Akash, Iniya, Athulya, Anikha Surendran, actors Vikram Prabhu, Bhagyaraj,  directors  KV Anand, SY Gowtham Raj, S. Kalyaan, Arunraja Kamaraj, singers Shashaa Tirupati, Madhura Dhara Talluri, producers Archana Kalpathi, Selvi Thiyagaran and Music Director DSP among others.

A grand awards night full of glitz and glamour was not just brimming with star power, but was also a night of celebrating the stalwart women artists from on and behind the screen. The winners were adjudged in 17 categories, based on their work in Tamil cinema from 2019. 12 out of the 17 winners were picked by an online voting system. The tone of the evening was our awardees and presenters acknowledging the importance of women in cinema, be it in front of the camera or away.

Best actress in a women-centric film

 

 

Jyothika won the award for the best actress in a women-centric film for her performance in Raatchasi. The award was presented to her by actress Simran. Simran and Jyothika, two leading ladies on stage was the highlight of the evening! This is the first time these lady superstars are sharing a stage together and the audience was simply blown away.

 

 

Best actress in a lead role – critic

 

 

Shraddha Srinath won the best actress in a lead role – critic for her performance in Nerkonda Paarvai. The award was presented to her by RJ Balaji.

 

Best actress – Critics choice

 

 

Aishwarya Rajesh won the best actress – critics choice award for her performance in Namma Veetu Pillai. The award was presented to her by actor Vikram Prabhu.

Best actress in a supporting role

 

 

Ammu Abhirami won the award of best actress in a supporting role for her performance in Asuran. The award was presented to her by director S Kalyaan and Ms. Lochani, manager – Digital Marketing, Yamaha Motor India.

Best child artist

 

 

Anikha Surendran won the best child artist award for her performance in Viswasam. The award was presented to her by actress Gayathrie Shankar and Mr. Muthuraman, Managing Director, Lakshmi Ceramics.

Best child artist – critic

 

 

Sadhana won the best child artist – critic award for her performance in Peranbu.

Best actress in a comic role

 

 

Actress Revathi won the best actress in a comic role for her performance in Jackpot. The award was presented to her by music director Devi Sri Prasad and Mr. Prakash, Head-marketing, Twin Birds.

Best costume designer

 

 

Ezhilmathy won the best costume designer award for her contribution in the film Super Deluxe. The award was presented to her by writer/director Arunraja Kamaraj.

Best dubbing artist

 

 

Deepa Venkat won the best dubbing artist for lending her voice to Taapsee Pannu for the film Game Over. The award was presented to her by costume designer Amritha Ram and actress Iniya.

Woman director of the year

 

 

Halitha Shameen won the woman director of the year award for Sillu Karupatti. The award was presented to her by actor/director Cheran.

Best director for a women-centric film

 

 

Director SY Gowtham Raj won the award for the best director in a women-centric film for Raatchasi. The award was presented to him by actress Meena and Mr. Balan Samiappan, Managing Director, Prithvi Innerwears.

Best playback singer

 

 

Shashaa Tirupati won the award for best playback singer for the song Visiri from the film Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta. The award was presented to her by music director D.Imman and Dr. Sethuraman, Managing Director, Zi Clinic.

Best debutante

 

 

Megha Akash won the award for the best debutante for her performance in Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta. The award was presented to her by director KV Anand and Selvi Thiyagarajan, Sathyajyothi films.

 

Best actress in a lead role

 

Manju Warrier bagged the best actress in a lead role award for her performance in Asuran.

Best women-centric film

 

 

Raatchasi bagged the best women-centric film. The award was received by producer SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures and presented by director KV Anand.

Lyricist of the year

 

Thamarai won the Lyricist of the year award for Kannana Kanne song from Viswasam. The award was presented to her by music director D.Imman.

Special recognition – lyrics

 

 

Vivek bagged the special recognition for his lyrics for the song Singapenne from Bigil. The award was presented to him by director Karthik Naren.

Woman producer of the year

 

 

Archana Kalpathi won the woman producer of the year award for producing BIGIL. The award was presented to her by director/actor Bhagyaraj and Mr. Jaison PV, Regional Manager, Joyalukkas Indian Private Limited.

 

Performances:

What is a glamorous night without some grooving and dancing. Actresses Indhuja Ravichandran and Athulya Ravi set the stage on fire with their stellar performances, charm and charisma.

 

 

 

 

 

Anchors:

 

 

The most loved duo Ma Ka Pa Anandh and Kiki Vijay entertained the audience with their witty humour and engaging questions.
