Twin Birds JFW Movie Awards 2023: A One Of A Kind Grand Awards Night For The Women In Cinema Is Here!

Celebrating the women of cinema!

The fifth edition of the JFW Movie Awards is here. The JFW Movie Awards 2023 presented by Twin Birds, powered by Prithvi inner wears and GRT Jewellers, associate sponsor Kaaveri TMT bars is set to be held on Sunday, 2nd April 2023 at the Chennai trade centre.

JFW Movie Awards 2023 has 12 categories – best actress in lead role, best actress in a women centric film, best actress in an OTT series, best supporting actress, best debutante, best women centric film of the year, best director, best dubbing artist, best singer, best cinematographer, best costume designer and best director OTT. Apart from the categories, JFW has special mentions and critics’ awards to celebrate the spectacular works of the artists and technicians.

Films like Gargi, Ponniyin Selvan, Love Today and Vikram bagged number of nominations in different categories. The nominations for the best actress in a lead role are Trisha Krishnan for Ponniyin Selvan, Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam, Dushara Vijayan for Natchathiram Nagargirathu and Aishwarya Lekshmi for Gatta Kusthi. Under the best actress in a women centric film category we have Sai Pallavi for Gargi, Andrea Jeremiah for Anel Mel Pani Thuli, Keerthy Suresh for Saani Kaayidham and Amala Paul for Cadaver. These four major films of 2022 are nominated under the best women centric film of the year category and directors of all four films – Gautham Ramachandran, Kaiser Anand, Arun Matheswaran and Anoop Panicker are nominated under the best director category.

Ponniyin Selvan bagged two nominations under the best dubbing artist category: Kritika Nelson – Trisha and Deepa Venkat – Aishwarya Rai. The viral Mamakutty’s voice Savitha Reddy is one of the nominees. The fourth nominee is Raveena Ravi for Srinidhi Shetty’s voice for Cobra. One of the most prominent categories the best singer has Madhushree (Mallipoo), Antara Reddy (Alai Kadal), Shreya Ghoshal (Ratchasa Maamaney) and Jonita Gandhi (Arabic Kuthu). Under the best director in OTT series we have Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi – Paper Rocket, V Priya – Anantham, Halitha Shameem – Loners and Madhumitha – Mouname Paarvayaai.

Under the best actress in an OTT series, the nominees are Sriya Reddy and Aishwarya Rajesh from Suzhal, debutante Sanjana from Vadhandhi and Anjali from Fall. We have Raveena Ravi and Radikaa Sarathkumar from Love Today and Gayathrie Shankar and Vasanthi (Agent Tina) from Vikram as the Best Supporting actress nominees.  For the best debutante category we have Meetha Raghunath from Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, Brigida Saga from Iravin Nizhal, Aditi Shankar from Viruman and Siddhi Idnani from Venthu Thaninthadu Kaadu.

Gargi’s cinematographerS Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu, Preetha Jayaram – Hey Sinamika, Yaamini Yagnamurthy – Saani Kaayidham and Shreya Dev Dube – Acham Madam Naanam Payirpu are nominated under the best cinematographer category. Under the best costume designer, the nominees are Eka Lakhani for Ponniyin Selvan, Kavya Sriram for Thiruchitrambalam, Archa Mehta for Hey Sinamika and Anitha Ranjith for Natchathiram Nagargirathu.
