Ullahanan (Mohanlal) is a Panchayat Secretary in a boring, sleepy village who leads a mundane life. Aniyamma, his wife, played by Meena is the good old traditional wife who loves her husband and takes care of her family. Mid-life crisis hits Ullahanan’s mundane life when he reunites with his friends and looks out for some ‘flirty’ adventure. With his friend Venukuttan, (Anoop Menon) who becomes his confidant, Mohanlal learns the art of being a player.
He finds renewed energy and lets go off his monotonous life. What happens to his happy family? It’s one of those movies which keeps you guessing every second. Every dialogue hits the bulls eye and the chemistry between the lead pair is one of the best you’ve seen in recent times.
The first half is enjoyable and Jibu Jacob’s screenplay and fim making doesn’t disappoint. The dialogues written by M. Sindhuraj are impressive, especially the dialogues during the comic scenes between Anoop, Alencier Ley and Kalabhavan Shajon.
The script of the movie is its biggest strength; The balanced family drama filled with emotional performances, amazing chemistry between Mohanlal and Meena, and some refreshing cameos make it a must watch! The only flaw if you may call it, is that it’s a tad bit longer than the movies released recently.
Mohanlal’s role in ‘Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol’ is completely different from his previous one in ‘Pulimurugan’. He definitely makes you want to watch the movie again!
