TRENDING: Netizens Slam Samantha For Her Role In ‘The Family Man 2’ !

Actress Samantha’s very first web series’ trailer had come out yesterday and initially fans were pouring appreciation all over. Amongst many others, Samantha’s husband Naga Chaithanya and Kangana Ranaut were 2 known people who commended the ‘Theri’ heroine for her new role. However, the internet does not seem very happy about the role that she has accepted. In fact, a lot of social media users went onto thrash and criticise Samantha for taking up a role that is against the Tamil identity.

The trailer establishes that there is a hostage situation in Chennai and the scene moves to introduce Samantha who talks with a unique Tamil accent which is generally associated with the Jaffna or Srilankan accent. She is also seen wearing the Liberations Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) uniform almost throughout the trailer. The LTTE is an organisation that seeks to establish an independent Tamil state named ‘Eelam’ in Srilanka.

Ever since this backlash, #Family Man 2 Against Tamilians has been trending on twitter. Popular film reviewer Prashant Rangaswamy wrote, “FamilyMan2_against_Tamils tag trending . Hope Samantha has not done the grave mistake of standing against her own people,” on Twitter. Some tweets against the actress are as follows.

The Family Man team has not come back with any kind of official clarification or update on this matter. Meanwhile, Samantha has been thanking all those who have lauded her with appreciation. On the work front, Samantha is busy shooting for ‘Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal’ and ‘Shaakunthalam’.
