While on his promotion circuit, Mysskin was giving interviews to various media outlets, recounting experiences not only while working on Psycho, but other movies he has directed.
In an interview with a television channel, Mysskin recalled a negative experience he had on the sets of his 2017 Vishal detective movie Thupparivaalan, where he had a difficult moment with Anu Emmanuel, who played a crucial role in the film.
Mysskin was asked if he faced any difficulties in working with two big actresses, and replied by saying “I didn’t face any issue in Psycho. But, it happened during the shooting of Thupparivaalan. Anu Emmanuel and Andrea Jeremiah were shooting for their combination scene. While Andrea wore jeans and a T-shirt, Anu wore a kurta. So Andrea told her to watch her step as her kurta might get stuck. But, she got furious and asked Andrea to mind her job. I got really angry and irritated.”
He then also added, “Later, I took her aside and blasted her. I told her that Andrea is a lot more experienced than you and all she did was to ask you to watch your step. I was so furious that I wanted to smash a pumpkin on her head.”
Mysskin attributed the ease in directing Aditi Rao Hyderi and Nithya Menen to the actresses’ maturity. “On the sets of Psycho, there was no problem because everyone’s mature,” the director said.
Psycho marked Mysskin’s first directorial venture since the aforementioned Thupparivaalan, although he stayed active in the cinema world with writing and acting roles in Savvarakaththi and Super Deluxe. His next project is Thupparivaalan 2, which will see Vishal reprise his lead role.
