I Do Not Like Radikaa’s Temper: Sarathkumar!

These two!

Veteran actor Sarathkumar has entered his 34th year in cinema, since making his big-screen debut in 1986. Although still featuring in a multitude of movies in recent times, he has not been in a Kollywood movie since the 2017 thriller ChennaiyilOruNaal 2. That streak is set to end this year, however, having 4 Kollywood projects for 2020.

One of these movies is the upcoming VaanamKottattum, directed by Dhana Sekaran who previously directed Padaiveeran in 2018. Apart from starring the likes of Vikram Prabhu, Madonna Sebastian, and Aishwarya Rajesh, the movie also features RadhikaaSarathkumar, Sarathkumar’s wife of 19 years. The film marks their first in over two decades, the last one being 1997’s Suryavamsam.

When talking about his experience acting with Radikaa, he said “I chose not to act in films for some time. Director Dhana narrated the story of VaanamKottattum to both me and Radikaa. We immediately liked it. The story involves the events that happen in a family, without the local flavour getting lost. We are doubly happy acting in this film. Every artist has understood their characters and given their best in this film.”

He also elaborated on the dynamic he shares with her while acting together, by saying “We never consider each other as competition. We understand the demands of the characters and perform accordingly. Radikaa usually has a few rules when she accepts a film, but she relaxed those for this one. The only thing I don’t like in Radikaa is her temper. I love everything about her except this. I believe one shouldn’t express their anger instantly.”

Both Sarathkumar and Radhikaa are set for a busy 2020. Apart from VaanamKottattum, Sarathkumar has 3 movies that are in their filming stage, namely Paamban, PirandhalParasakthi and an untitled Mohanlal film in Malayalam. GV Prakash Kumar starrer Adangathey also features Sarathkumar and should release this year.

Radhikaa has a reported 6 films in her kitty this year. KuruthiAattam, Jail, and PirandhalParasakthi, in which she will once again feature alongside Sarathkumar are all in their filming stage, while the delayed projects Dhruva Natchathiram, directed by Gautam Menon, and James Vasanthan’s Oh AnthaNaatkal are expected to also release this year.
