In her Instagram live, Samyukta Hegde was quoted saying that the crowd around her accused her for taking drugs because she was an actor. In fact the AICC member called the Police while the crowd asked her to be booked for Public Indecency. There has been an outbreak on social media ever since. Looking at the outcome, Kavitha Reddy has released a video and statement apologising to actress Samyuktha and her friends. “I have always opposed Moral Policing. I realize that my actions were construed as such. An argument ended up in me reacting aggressively as well, it was a mistake. As a responsible citizen n progressive woman, I own up to n sincerely apologise to @SamyukthaHegde n her Friends,” she stated on social media.

A rather composed Samyuktha later posted the stated and wrote, “Apologies accepted Ms Kavitha Reddy. I hope we can all move forward from the incident and make women feel safe everywhere.”
After a crowd gathered during the incident that happened last week, one of the police officers asked Samyuktha and her friends to leave as a crowd was gathering. “People are gathering here. Please leave,” the police officer can be heard saying to Samyuktha.
The crowd in the park closed the park gates and when Samyukta tried to open it, an individual slapped on her hand to stop opening it.
However, Kavitha Reddy had a different story altogether. “Since the last three to four days, these women have been playing music and dancing, which is not allowed. Several regulars have told them not to do that. Yesterday, the guard told me that he was being yelled at by the public and asked me to come. I told them to not play music and dance. If I have to allow them then other people will be emboldened to come with speakers and play loud music,” she said.
“The minute I took a picture of her, one of the girls called me a bloody old b**** and that’s when I got angry and went to confront her. I was instigated. Why should I be called names? We saved the lake and have been protecting it since the last 10 years,” she claimed.
The park that Kavitha Reddy is talking about is open to all sections of the public. Moreover, throughout the 16 minute video that Samyuktha had uploaded, Kavitha Reddy or the others were not heard talking about loud music, they were only complaining that the women were dressed ‘indecently’.
