Isaivani, a playback singer, got emotional and did shed a few tears as she choked at the memory of her father losing his job and him saving the last and only bits of food for her.
“I had this yearning to wear a lot of dresses. The first dress I wore cost Rs.30. I started working when I was in 10th.”
Adding to her speech, she spoke about how she and her brother were excluded in most activities and were teased for always changing homes. She emphasized how her home still doesn’t have a TV and how she used music to earn and help her family.
“My father requested relatives for money to educate my brother but no one came forward to help,” she added and made a bold statement on how if you have the gift to educate someone, you need to do it. She also mentioned how her friends treated her differently and never spoke to her but did listen when she started singing. “That’s the moment I chose to sing,” she declared and then expressed her journey through various competitions and her venture in Gaana.
Her story of living a life of poverty to riches and her motivational statement of “don’t feel bad when life is difficult. It shall change soon,” made the other contestants teary and the viewers shed tears too. The comments section is filled with support for her as well as with pictures of the contestants that they choose to support.
