Asian Games 2018: 16-Year-Old Manu Bhaker Sets Games Record!!

She and Rahi Sarnobat made it to the 8-woman final round.

India’s women shooters Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat have entered the finals of the 25 m pistol competition at the ongoing Asian Games, with 16-year-old Manu even setting a record of 593 to top qualifying, while Rahi was 7th with 580.

Manu’s performance has been exemplary, with her scoring 297 points in the three-series precision round and 296 in the three-series rapid round. Succeeding her 593 was South Korea’s Minjung Kim who was 8 points behind.

On the other hand, Rahi scored 288 in the precision round and 292 in the rapid round.

Manu has 10 gold records to her credit. She represented India at the 2018 ISSF World Cup and won two gold medals, and was the youngest Indian to win a gold medal. Hailing from Jhajjar district of Haryana, Manu has excelled in other sports including Huyen langlon, a Manipuri martial art, as well as boxing, tennis and skating, winning medals at the national games in these events.

Her other achievements include winning the silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships. Last year, at the National Games, Manu won a whopping nine gold medals and defeated multiple World Cup medalist Heena Sidhu and broke Sidhu’s record of 240.8 points, scoring 242.3 points in the final.
