Trisha as JESSIE

One of the most complicated characters written, Jessie did drive us crazy. Brought up in an orthodox Christian family, Jessie, played by Trisha, says confusing things from the beginning of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Jessie says she does not love Karthik, played by Simbu, and goes on to get married, but after seeing him at the altar she walks away from her wedding and admits that she is in love him with. She decides to go against her family and fight for her love but when confronted by her family she leaves Karthik to marry the person her family chooses. Jessie lives in a conflict but she had a clear vision and a clear head – it’s just that she chose one kind of unconditional love over the other and that’s the beauty of her character.

Jyothika as MAYA

Jyothika Banner

One of the most memorable characters Jyothika has played, Maya was a confident and independent young teacher who meets a police office and slowly falls for him. She is impressed by his honesty and mystic looks. Jyothika was brilliant in Kaakha Kaakha and the chemistry between Suriya and her was one of the high point of the film. Even after she has been kidnapped by criminals who want to get back at Anbuselvan, Maya remains brave and does not give in to their whims. Maya is magical like her name. She gives it her all when it comes to the love of her life but she gives her everything when it comes to standing up for herself. How can a woman be that brilliantly brave you may ask? Well, she is a teacher after all, she represents all the strength of the world to stand tall in front of the future generation she so willingly teaches.
