Dhansuh's first release of the year, Thodari received only a lukewarm response at the theaters. It is critical for Dhanush to give a hit film and he hopes Kodi might be the one. As for Trisha, the actress has not had a hit since Yennai Arindhaal which released in 2015.
This year, Trisha has had 2 releases so far- Aaranmanai 2 and Nayaki. While the former was a decent hit, it had an ensemble cast with Hansika and Poonam Bajwa. As for bilingual Nayaki, the film bombed at the box office. Trisha is in a desperate need for a superhit to regain her foothold in Tamil cinema.
Kodi's trailer looks promising and the actress is in the right hands with Durai Senthilkumar, of Ethir Neechal fame donning the director's hat and Vetrimaaran producing the film. The film will see Dhanush in a dual role, a first for the actor. Trisha was an important factor in the trailer and looks like the actress will have a major role to play in the story. The actress is also awaiting the release of her solo film Mohini, where she will be seen playing a chef.
