Will Dhanush play Padman in the Tamil remake?

Arunachalam wants him to!

Padman hit the theatres two weeks back and has been the rage ever since. The story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the story is based on a man who invents the machine that can churn out low-cost sanitary napkins for the betterment of India. The machine was then handed over to women in villages just like in real life, and Padman reaches inspiring heights of fame.

Although Akshay Kumar essayed the role surprisingly well, the talk of the town has been about a Tamil remake as the story is based on a South Indian inventor Arunachalam who hails from Coimbatore. K-Town is abuzz with the news that Dhanush might be taking up the project and the actor will be most suitable for it.

Indeed, speaking at a special screening of Pad Man in Chennai earlier this week, Muruganantham was asked if he’d wish to see his story get made in Tamil, to which he replied he’d like to see it get made with Dhanush.

Although a female-centric subject such as Padman might take quite the boldness to take up, Dhanush is not new to experimentation. The actor is awaiting the release of Maari 2 with Sai Pallavi right now and is also all set for his Hollywood debut, ‘The Extraordinary Life of an Indian Fakir’, which just released its teaser. Will Dhanush take up Padman? Only time will tell.
