People who reside by the beach say that the area is not as secure as it used to be. It is reported that in the last six months, crimes have increased in the area with sex workers taking to the beach after 6 PM. The public tend to leave the beach early thus paving way for anti-social activities.
By Sunday evening, police had detained five men for questioning. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman. A few police officers told The New Indian Express that it was difficult to keep a watch on suspicious people at night as they would pretend to be homeless people looking to sleep on the beach.
