Rumour has it that Katrina Kaif is to play the role of PT Usha in the latter’s biopic. Social media users debated on whether Katrina Kaif will be able to pull off the role of the Malayalee athlete. The rumour started doing rounds after Priyanka Chopra opted out of the project.

The Biopic is to be directed by Revathy S Varma, who previously directed the 2006 Jyothika starrer- ‘June R’, as well as the 2013 malayalam film ‘Maad Dad’, which is remembered for launching Nazriya.

 

 

Now Revathy has clarified that the project is in its early stages and no decisions have been made about the casting.  “Though this is not the right situation to talk anything about the film, whatever is being talked about is mere speculation and can be clearly looked upon as rumour. We are actually in the brooming stage only.” said the director.  “It is premature stage indeed to talk about the film, given that it is a huge project. Our team is working on marketing, production, creative aspect and designing. But as of now, nothing has been finalised yet.” she added.

PT Usha is a retired Indian track filed athlete. She has been associated with Indian athletics since 1979.In 1984, she was conferred the Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award. She is often called the “queen of Indian track and field”.
