Sneak Peek into Karthik Subburaj’s Mercury: Actor Speak!

JFW Exclusive!

If you are a fan of Kamal’s Pesum Padam/Pushpaka Vimana like us, you would have definitely gotten excited about this next project of Karthik Subburaj! Barely few movies in, Subburaj had already made a household name for himself and is touted as one of the pioneers of Indie Tamil films! As fans of K-Town go gaga over his next with Superstar Rajinikanth himself, the latest news that his silent thriller film, ‘Mercury’ is all set to release on April, and that too on the spooky date of Friday the 13th is gonna amaze you! Check out his tweet below:

Deepak Paramesh famous for his dubsmash on YouTube, was last seen in Thottakal Poovachu, Burma, and Onakku yenne venum sollu; is now playing one of the leading characters in this silent-thriller film. Speaking on the same to JFW, he said, “It is a privilege to play a crucial character in a Karthik Subburaj’s film and I am even more elated to say my first scene was with Prabhu Deva one of my idols. The plot centers around college friends dealing with a dire situation. National award winning cinematographer Thiru has done a great job and I cannot wait for people to see it!”

As it is no doubt Subburaj is a perfectionist, Deepak says the experience of shooting was a lovely learning experience. “There was definitely a period dedicated to just readying myself for the character. I even shot for a stunt sequence so everything had to go as planned to the T. My character is happy go lucky but how the plot turns out is… well you need to wait!”, he laughs.

The silent film the world was exposed to was 2011 Oscar winner, The Artist. But unlike Pesum Padam, the movie had used cue cards to show dialogues and emotions. Deepak says Mercury would be doing away with cue cards too: “We did not even resort to cue cards. This will be completely reliant on BGM and other scene sequences. In fact, there aren’t even any songs!”.

Mercury’s cast includes Sananth Shashank Anish & Indhuja and Prabhu Deva in the lead. Santhosh Narayanan is the music director for the BGMs as the film is void of songs; Well, as a master Storyteller, if anybody can do justice to the film it would be Karthik Subburaj!
