The movie is all set to stream on Amazon Prime from November 9th. From the trailer of Yashoda, we know that the film is a women-centric one. Before this, Samantha has done women-centric roles in U-Turn and Oh! Baby. This will be Samantha’s third women-centric film. “I have been in this industry for 12 years now and I can see that female-driven scripts have become the new flavour and women are rising with the occasion. In hero films, you only get a certain type of role to play but in women-driven movies, it is more challenging to work for interesting roles,” she said in an interview while speaking about her role in the film.
Yashoda is the first film that will be talking about the concept of Surrogacy. The film aims to expose the criminal activities behind commercial surrogacy. Besides Samantha, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan, Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Shatru, Madhurima, Kalpika Ganesh, Divya Sripada, Priyanka Sharma and others play crucial roles. With Mani Sharma for music, M Sukumar for cinematography and Marthand K Venkatesh as the editor, Yashoda has left no stone unturned to impress the audience in the theatres.
Samantha, after the release of Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, is awaiting the release of Shaakuntalam. The film, directed by Gunasekhar, is a Telugu mythological film based on Kalidasa’s Shaakuntalam. The film also stars Dev Mohan, Mohan Babu, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla in titular roles. The latest update from the team is the release date of the film. The makers have revealed that the project will be out in cinema halls in November this year. Samantha has been on a signing spree in recent times. Even while she awaits the release of Shaakunthalam, she is working on many other projects and is also signing a few more. For example, the actor is all set to make her Hollywood debut with ‘Arrangements of Love’ in which she is likely to play a queer woman.
