Directed by Shankar Shanmugham, the film stars Rajinikanth who reprises his roles as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti the robot. The antagonist in this film is played by Akshay Kumar who is making his Tamil cinema debut. Amy Jackson and Adil Hussain are part of the cast, too.

The film has around 11,000 VFX shots and each shot is being worked upon with a lot of care. Made on a huge budget of Rs 450 crores, the film’s audio launch happened in Dubai last year. Music is composed by AR Rahman.
