A few days ago, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar slammed the casting couch of the film and entertainment industries for sexually harassing women artists just to get a position and place in the industry. After this message, the actress is all set to kickstart a women’s union – initiative named ‘Save Shakthi’ which will get the Mahila (women) courts set to deal with sexual violence. In an interview with media, she said, “We already have Mahila courts in the state but these are not enough. Having one court in a district is not enough. So we need Mahila courts at every magistrate, taluk level. Only then will the rate of conviction increase and only then will we have more cases filed…women will feel brave enough to approach a Mahila court and file their complaint.”
