In this video, Varalaxmi says, “It is important to bring up more Mahila courts as there are rarely any in sight when necessary. We have decided to file a petition to the state government regarding the set up of it. When specialized courts like these are set up, the women will be brave enough to make a complaint and the sex offenders will think twice before committing the offense. Also, the duration of the judgment from these courts will be short and the punishment will be given quite quickly. There are a lot of unions in the film and media industries but none of them cater to women.”
“I have planned to set up a women’s union where not just actresses but anyone from junior artists to costume designers can come and easily file a complaint,” she concluded in her video.
The petition will be signed by the actress on March 8th which is International Women’s and meet the chief minister whenever an appointment is given to her. According to reports, there are 4500 sex crimes pending in the Delhi court and the trauma every victim has to face walking up and down the court, every time is very exhausting and painful.
The brave actress with the help of volunteers and cooperatives has planned to make this entire ‘Save Shakthi’ initiative a success!
