Jyothika’s Costume Designer Spills The Beans On ‘Kaatrin Mozhi’!

Exclusive!

National Award-winning Costume Designer Poornima Ramaswamy, who is geared up for the release of her next project ‘Kaatrin Mozhi’, says that Jyothika is the most easiest celebrity to work with. In an exclusive interview with JFW, Poornima says:

“She’s the least fussy and most professional person I’ve ever seen. She’s a stickler for timing and she’s someone who actually controls me. I try to go outside the circle and she’s someone, so far, to go back and ask myself if it’s important. And she’s someone who wants to be true to her character. She’s very dignified and she has a certain presence on screen, she’s a mother, actor Suriya’s wife and she’s earned the kind of dignity she has.

She also spoke of how different it will be from the original film ‘Tumhari Sulu’ starring Vidya Balan.

“The challenge of a remake is that the original will have an influence. Already you’ve seen a version of it but I try not to see the original. When we made ’36 Vayadhinile’, I didn’t watch the original. I watched ‘Tumhari Sulu’ without knowing that it would be made. Vidya Balan has such a powerful personality and Sulu character is someone who is at the back of your mind. I’ve tried to retain the character and make Jyothika different. I’ve ensured that the film is very colourful and it’s not exactly like the one in Hindi. It’s a Tamil housewife so I’ve tried to make it more different. This is a fun film which every housewife and family would relate to it. Just because she’s wearing sarees, people will think her look is similar to ’36 Vayadhinile’ but it’s not.”
