Breaking: 2.0 Leaked Online On The Day Of Its Release!

The film released on Tamil Rockers!

Tamil science fiction 2.0 released today amidst much fanfare and excitement. And while fans flock to the theatres to catch this Rajinikanth flick, the film has, unfortunately, been leaked online on TamilRockers website.

TamilRockers, an active piracy website, has leaked the entire movie in HD print, within a few hours since its release. TamilRockers is an anonymous torrent site that has given producers sleepless nights when they release recent films online. Bringing down TamilRockers has been something that actor and president of the Producers Council Vishal Krishna tried to do.  Leading an anti-piracy team, a list was submitted to the government that included names of websites that leaks recent films on their websites. The government had blocked most of these websites, but it still struggles to bring down TamilRockers.

In fact, a day before 2.0’s release, the Madras HC has directed 37 internet service providers (ISPs) to block over 12,000 websites that exhibit pirated versions of Tamil movies. The list includes more than 2,000 websites operated by ‘TamilRockers’.

Lyca’s official Twitter account took to social media to appeal to the people to not indulge in piracy.

Produced on an estimated budget of Rs543 crore (US$76 million), 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film. Directed by Shankar Shanmugham, the film stars Rajinikanth who reprises his roles as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti the robot. The antagonist in this film is played by Akshay Kumar who is making his Tamil cinema debut. Amy Jackson and Adil Hussain are part of the cast, too.

The film has around 11,000 VFX shots and with each shot worked on with a lot of deft and care. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman and also has various other noted technicians on board including Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, Nirav Shah, and has lyrics by Madhan Karky. The film is also being simultaneously released in Hindi and Telugu, with the Hindi version bankrolled by Dharma Productions too, headed by filmmaker Karan Johar.
