Aishwarya Rai was at the Cannes film festival as a L’Oreal brand ambassador like every year. Every time she walks the red carpet, she gives us something extraordinary. But it’s the interviews that we wait for. She is a master of her words, her witty responses are our favourite. She is an enigma, her calm composure when asked the difficult questions is admirable. During one such interview at Cannes, she was asked a question about her work in Hindi cinema, here is an excerpt from it:

 

Why isn’t Hindi cinema offering you these roles with complexities and depth?

To this the Actress response saying, “I think one of the most beautiful and most rewarding moments is when questions like this arise as to why not more works like this. There is a reason why we salute the directors like Mani Ratnam, there are a few, or there are many more directors like him,which is only a matter of perspective. They create work like this and that’s why it’s a pleasure for us as artists to work with them and come away with results and movies like this. We feel proud of the work we’ve done and immensely satisfied during the creative process  and also with the reaction of the audience. Ponniyin Selvan has been immensely satisfying for all of us. And we are grateful and overjoyed with the response.”

Aishwarya Rai was recently seen in Ponniyin Selvan movies and was enchanting as Nandini. Her performance was very highly appreciated by fans and critics. The magnum opus is the highest grossing film of the year. It stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Anushka Lekhmi.
