Dubbing is an art in itself!

Dubbing requires a lot of creativity. Giving a voice to someone else needs to be very convincing for the audience. The expressions of the voice needs to match and everything should be in sync. They make the entire film memorable and worth watching. Today, many actresses borrow voice from dubbing artists and they are given less credited for their work. So let’s have a look at 9 women who amazed us with their mesmerising voice.

  1. Savitha Reddy

Savitha is a fairly noted dubbing artist in the industry with over 20 years in experience and has worked in over 1000 films. She has dubbed for Jyothika, Simran, Tamannaah, Nayanthara, Trisha, Amala Paul and Hansika. Another interesting fact is that she dubbed for Amala Paul in the film Deiva Thirumagal, whereas her daughter dubbed for Baby Sara’s character in the same film. Savitha even dubbed for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Enthiran. For all her wonderful works she has been awarded three Tamil Nadu State Awards and three Andhra State Awards.

 

 

  1. Sreeja Ravi

Sreeja is a dubbing artist and actress in the South. She has lent her voice to over 1500 films and numerous commercial ads. She started her dubbing career in the year 1975 and also dubbed for child artists. She has also dubbed for lead actresses from Simran, Jyothika to Anushka Shetty. Sreeja has received Kerala State and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Dubbing Artist. She even acted in supporting roles in Tamil and Malayalam films. Sreeja has a daughter Raveena Ravi who is also a present dubbing artist.

 

 

  1. Chinmayi

Apart from being a popular singer, Chinmayi is also a dubbing artist. She has dubbed for several actresses in Tamil films, including Tamannaah Bhatia, Sameera Reddy, Samantha Akkineni and Trisha Krishnan. However, she attained fame as a dubbing artist after she lent her voice for Trisha as Jessie in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. She even dubbed for Telugu films and bagged the Nandi Award from the Andhra Pradesh Government. Her soulful voice gives life to the characters instantly.

 

 

4.Raveena Ravi

The voice of the popular British actress, Amy Jackson is Raveena Ravi, daughter of the dubbing artist, Sreeja Ravi. She began her career as a dubbing artist in 1999. However, she shot to fame after the film I. She also lent her voice for Nayanthara, Kajal Aggarwal, Catherine Tresa, Madonna Sebastien and many other leading actresses in Tamil cinema. Raveena, who was always behind the screen, made her acting debut in a Tamil film, Oru Kidaiyin Karunai Manu.

 

 

  1. Deepa Venkat

Remember the popular dialogue “Poda Unaku Then Mozhi, Kani Mozhinu Yevalachum Kedaipa…” from Raja Rani? The voice behind this is Deepa Venkat. Apart from being a dubbing artist, Deepa Venkat is also an actress and an RJ.  In 2012, she won the Norway Tamil Film Festival Award for Best Dubbing Artist for Mayakkam Enna. She has also been awarded the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu. In recent times, Deepa has become the voice of Nayanthara.

 

 

  1. Manasi

Manasi is an Indian playback singer who has sung over 70 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. She made her debut as a voice artist in Nirnayam for Regina Cassandra. Manasi also lent her voice for Samantha in Anjaan and Nadigaiyar Thilagam, Tamannaah in Devi, Thozha, Dharma Durai and Baahubali and Trisha in Kodi.
