8 Binge Worthy Movies and Series On OTT That Released In February!

Ever since the lockdown began, OTT platforms have become famous and have made it easier for binge-watchers to watch movies and shows from home. On the other hand, various platforms are also releasing  a variety of  movies and series on their respective platforms. Here are 8 movies and Series that were released on OTT in February!

 

  • Mahaan: 

Starring an ensemble cast of Vikram, Bobby Simha, Dhruv Vikram, Sanath and Simran, Mahaan is a Tamil action-thriller directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film revolves around a middle-aged school teacher who is abandoned by his family after he decides to live a life of his own. He realises his dream of becoming a billionaire, but misses his son. How this affects his life, forms the rest of the story. The film received good feedback in terms of cinematography and performances, but was criticized for its ironic conceptualization.

  • Hridayam:

Hridayam is a Malayalam coming-of-age film starring Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Dharshana Rajendran in lead roles. Directed by Vineeth Srinivasan, the film revelves around the lives of Arun and Darshana who are first-year engineering students. They fall in love soon after their college begins. And just as how things work generally in teenage, the road ahead isn’t too easy for them. Life offers many twists and turns that they least expect. The film received a lot of appreciation for performances, and was widely enjoyed by audiences across languages.

  • The Fame Game:

Starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Kapoor, Manav Kaul and many others, The Fame Game is a Hindi language web-series directed by Sri Rao. ‘The Fame Game’ is about a dysfunctional Bollywood family. Things have now reached such an abyss for Nikhil More, a film producer, that to recover his mounting financial losses he is now betting big on a film that stars his wife Anamika and Manish Khanna, the superstar with whom his wife had an affair once. Things go topsy-turvy when Anamika goes missing and no one has a clue if she is dead or alive. The series wonderfully portrays the difficulties of being an actress, or just generally the difficulties of being the family members of someone famous. Madhuri Dixit’s performance was commended the most. The series is also available in regional languages.

  • Bhamakalapam:

Starring Priya Mani in the lead role, Bhamakalapam is Telugu crime comedy thriller directed by Abhimanyu. The story is centered on the female protagonist Anupama Mohan (Priyamani), who is a homemaker and YouTuber known for her culinary skills. When push comes to shove, she uses her skill sets for something darker. Incidents of crime keep happening and on occasions, what happens around them is a laugh riot. The film was considered something different, as it dealt with the idea of Crime-comedy after a very long time.

  • A Thursday:

Directed by Behzad Khambata, A Thursday is a Hindi thriller film starring Yami Gautam in the lead role, and Neha Dhupia, Atul Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia in supporting roles. The film revolves around the situation when a playschool teacher (Yami Gautam) decides to kidnap 16 small students and she puts a series of demands. It not only shakes the Mumbai police and city, but it sends repercussions throughout the country and its Politicians. What are her demands, and why she has such demands, are the questions that the rest of the movie answers.

  • Bestseller:

With Shruti Haasan playing the lead and others like Arjun Bajwa, Gauhar Khan and Satyajeet Kaur playing supporting roles, Bestseller is Hindi TV Mini Series, directed by Mukul Abhyankar. The story is about a novelist who is facing writer’s block, meeting a budding writer. Desperate, he decides to use her story for his next novel. At the same time, a film assistant is planning something vicious to destroy him and his close ones. How the two plots tangle with one another, and what happens next forms the rest of the story. The series is based on Ravi Subramanian’s ‘Bestseller She Wrote’.

  • Good Luck Sakhi:

Starring Keerthy Suresh, Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu, Good Luck Sakhi is a Telugu sports comedy film directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. It follows the life of Sakhi, who is affected by seemingly endless bad luck, including the accidental death of her fiancé. Sakhi then trains to compete as a sharpshooter at a national level competition. Whether she succeeds or not, forms the rest of the story. While the movie was fine in conveying its women-centric idea, many critics felt that the idea of luck and destiny could have been handled better in the film.

  • Meppadiyan:

Directed by Vishnu Mohan, Meppadiyan is a Malayalam drama film, starring Unni Mukundan in the lead role. The movie starts as Jayakrishnan (Unni Mukundan) enters into real estate business with Varki, however it becomes a trap for him and he loses his own home and land. The land that he ended up buying was a land that already the central government marked for a railway project. How he sorts the issue out forms the rest of the story.
