Thamarai is a Tamil lyricist, poet, writer, and former journalist. She has penned lyrics for evergreen songs like Vaseegara from Minnale, Ennai konjam maatri from Kaakha Kaakha and Anjala from Vaaranam Aayiram, to the latest Mallipoo from Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu and songs from Ennai Nokki Paayum Thota. Articulated and detail-oriented, Thamari has a keen sensibility to word emotions and happenings around the world in the most beautiful and soulful ways. With a long spanning career in the film industry for more than two decades, she continues to write songs that we all would eventually fall in love with and add to our playlist.

Vaseegara – Minnale (2001)

 Brilliance of ‘Vaseegara’ lies in how it poetically discusses a woman’s sensuality and desire without banking on sexual innuendos or allusions. Sung in a husky and sultry voice by carnatic singer Bombay Jayashree, the track became a starting point for other songs with a pinch of romance and sensuality.

Kangal Neeye – Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal  (2012)
