She played the distressed village gal who does not understand the language and is in a foreign land fighting against the system to get her husband back. The character showed courage, confidence and the will not back down personality. It does not get any better than this and Madhubala played the role to perfection!
If characters were perfect from the beginning to the end, there would be no such thing as a character arc in a story.
