She was the first women from the south to do women-centric movies. She made a name for herself by playing roles of police officers in several movies. Her biggest hit was the Telugu movie Kartavyam, which was dubbed in Tamil as Vyjayanthi IPS. The movie was said to be an inspiration from the life of Kiran Bedi.
