6 Movies To Look Forward To in 2019!

Which one are you looking forward to??

We have a string of films that are ready to impress us considering we’ve been waiting for it for a long, long time. Hearing stories about them, reading how the project came along and artistes who are raring to floor you, here are six movies that everybody is looking forward to in 2019!

Super Deluxe

Super Deluxe is an Tamil film produced written and directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam fame. It features Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Akkineni, Ramya Krishnan, Mysskin and Bagavathi Perumal. Vijay Sethupathi plays Shilpa, a transgender person, and is seen looking quite comfortable in character. Samantha Akkineni will reportedly play a woman named Vaembu who has quite a dark past. Mysskin will be playing a priest while the other characters’ roles are known. The film’s music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is slated for a release this year.

Praana

The film ‘Praana’ that stars Nithya Menen in the lead looks quite disturbing, to say the least. A multilingual film, it is directed by VK Prakash. The film is being made in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, and has ace cinematographer PC Sreeram and Oscar winner Resul Pookutty on board. The film’s first-look was shared by Dulquer Salmaan in June last year and let’s just say the first-look will make you feel very, very uncomfortable. Focusing on her serious face, there are far too many dolls’ heads in the background, a stuff of nightmares for those who suffer from Trypophobia! The film’s trailer had garnered a terrific response when it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival last year. Acclaimed Jazz musician Louis Banks is the music director for this short movie.

Saaho

With the sound of engines revving and bikes racing, the recently released video of Saaho shows action sequences as well as female lead Shraddha Kapoor kicking butts. Moreover, we also catch a glimpse of Arun Vijay, who is likely to play the villain in the film. Amidst all this, we see all the work that goes behind most of those action sequences including making the machinery and orchestrating the scene by the action director. Towards the end, a tall muscular man comes to the frame with wavy hair, a stubble on the face, and looks that could kill. Prabhas, who looks every bit like the titular ‘tall, dark, and handsome’ stereotype, can be seen performing his stunts with much ease. Saaho is said to be a trilingual (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu) futuristic film and Prabhas has reportedly undergone rigorous training to perform some death-defying and high octane stunts. The cast, apart from the two leads, includes Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Tinnu Anand, Chunkey Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar and Mandira Bedi.

Sye Raa Narasimhaa

Sye Raa is a biopic on the famous freedom fighter from Kurnool. The film’s cast, apart from Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara, includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kiccha Sudeep, Tamannaah Bhatia, Jagapathi Babu, Nayanthara, Pragya Jaiswal and even Vijay Sethupathi. Directed by Surender Reddy, the film is bankrolled by Ram Charan under his banner Konidela Production Company on a budget of Rs 150 crores, with cinematography by Ravi Varman and script by the Paruchuri Brothers.

Airaa

Actress Nayanthara, who has been doing women-centric movies, has set a mark for herself in the south Indian film industry. In a male dominating industry, she has managed to be an inspiration for other actresses to take up strong lead roles. Her last two flicks – ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ – are proof of this. In director Sarjun KM’s film, Nayanthara is seen in dual roles. One in the present and one in the past, with the film shuttering between colour and black-and-white. The teaser was out recently and has spooked the collective, with many eagerly looking forward to this horror-thriller.

Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta

This film has been in the works for a long time now, about three years. The film stars Dhanush and Megha Akash in the lead, directed by Gautham Menon with music by Darbuka Siva. The film was officially launched in March 2016 and was scheduled to release a week after Valentine’s Day in 2017. However, subjected to various delays including Menon working on his other projects such Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada and Dhruva Natchathiram, the film got shelved. Perhaps it might just release this year, along with Gautham Menon’s other release Dhruva Natchathiram.
