Waheeda Rahman

A still from the movie Vishwaroopam 2

Waheeda Rahman was the most admired actress in Bollywood a few years ago. She played strong roles and her performance was widely acclaimed. Last seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6, Waheeda Rehman played the role of Kamal Haasan’s mother in Vishwaroopam 2, which was recently released. Remember actress Archana? She was a regular in Balu Mahendra movies. She even went on to win the National Award for Best Actress for her role in Veedu. Now after a long gap, she is back on the big screen. Titled Azhiyatha Kolangal 2, it also has Revathy in it. Archana said, “Balu Mahendra’s ‘Azhiyatha Kolangal‘ was a highly acclaimed film. However, the similarities end there. Our film is an ode, a tribute to the one filmmaker who has been an inspiration for all of us. It is a story about emotions, sensibilities and relationships. Balu Mahendra would have been proud of this film had he been amidst us.”
