5 Actresses Who Have Made A Comeback After Marriage!

They don’t let marriage stop them from performing!

There’s a misconception that most people have about married actresses. Using the term “shelf life”, most rue that once a well-established actress gets married, her acting journey comes to an end. Forget getting glamorous roles, most of them would be offered films where they are seen either in supporting roles or as the typical maternal figure to the actor.

But that doesn’t stop them from doing what they love! In our list, we look at the various comebacks that actresses have made and whether it has worked or not.

Jyothika – A big thumbs up!!

After her marriage in 2006 with Suriya, the actress made a brief comeback in the Malayalam film Seetha Kalyanam (2009). While her role was appreciated, it wasn’t something to write home about. Until in 2015, she starred in 36 Vayadhinile and amazed all fans and critics! Her role in the film resonated a lot with her in real life. Since then, there’s been no stopping her considering she has starred in lead roles without the need to rely on a lead actor. Magalir Mattum and Naachiyaar are terrific examples of that. She also has Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, a film to watch out for.

Sneha – Needs better roles!

Sneha has proved her mettle as an actress in her nearly 2-decade career. However, after her marriage to Prasanna in 2012, she starred in a few other films but could’ve certainly been given better-written roles. Her last appearance was in Velaikkaran directed by Mohan Raja, a film that has allegedly chopped off a significant portion of her role. In an interview with JFW, she spoke about what kind of roles would help a comeback.

“If you are given the chance of good roles and good films, people will still appreciate you in spite of the decisions you have taken in your personal life. But it works at a 50:50. If you have chosen to come back with a script that doesn’t usually work for your image, people are likely to not appreciate that. Cinema has grown really well and there are so many women-oriented films coming up so there’s plenty in the category of comebacks one can do. The future in this regard really does look better!”

She has a Kannada flick and a Telugu one in the pipeline, hopefully they work out!

Samantha Akkineni – Repetition of roles!

Samantha Akkineni has established herself as the actress who will always play cute-girl roles. Now that she’s married, her roles have transitioned into cute-woman roles, something that really doesn’t say much. While she has starred in some very popular films, it’s a pity that her roles are mostly restricted to her cuteness quotient and adds nothing more to the story apart from being the lead actor’s love interest.

She recently spoke of scoring a hattrick with respect to the three films released after her marriage – Rangasthalam, Mahanti, and Irumbu Thirai. Sadly, these three films feature her in a role similar to what she’s done in the past. The actress has relatively played it safe with roles that will guarantee a mass appeal but is superficial at best. In Mahanati, her role did add a bit to the story but was definitely overshadowed by Keerthy Suresh’s powerful command over the screen.

She has some good films in the pipeline though. Seema Raja and Super Deluxe she stars alongside popular male actors. In U-Turn, releasing in Tamil and Telugu, she is the sole female lead and has a lot to weigh in on.
