10 Binge Worthy Movies & Series On OTT That Released In August!

Ever since the lockdown began, OTT platforms have become famous and have made it easier for binge-watchers to watch movies and shows from home. On the other hand, various platforms are also releasing  a variety of  movies and series on their respective platforms. Here are 10 August movies and series that have released or are yet to be released on OTT:

  • Navarasa:

Navarasa, created by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan became the talk of the town. 9 directors, 9 stories, 9 emotions and a bunch of actors have come together for this Anthology streaming television series that has been released on Netflix.An ensemble cast consisting of Vijay Sethupathi, Revathy, Prakash Raj, Remya Nambeesan, Ashok Selvan, Yogi Babu, Prasanna, Aravind Swami, Aditi Balan, Rohini, Delhi Ganesh, Gautam Menon, Bobby Simha, Riythvika, Ammu Abhirami, Sri Raam, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Siddarth, Atharva, Anjali, Suriya and Prayaga have acted in the series.

  • Boomika:

Starring Aishwarya Rajesh and Tamil debutant Avantika Vandanapu, Boomika is an eco action thriller television film. Directed by Rathindran R Prasad, this film is touted as the first film with its genre of eco action thriller. The story is centered on a young couple, Samyuktha (Aishwarya Rajesh) and Gautham (Vidhu) and their son, who move into an abandoned school building with the intention of turning it into a residential complex and make profits out of the deal. Aishwarya Rajesh’s role was commended in the film.

  • Netrikann:

Directed by Milind Rau, Netrikann is a Tamil crime-thriller film starring Nayanthara and Ajmal Ameer in lead roles. The story revolves around Durga (Nayanthara) who loses both her eyesight and her brother in an accident. How she becomes a witness to a kidnapping and finds the culprit forms the rest of the story. Nayanthara received a lot of appreciation for playing the role of a visually-challenged character.

  • Bhuj: The Pride Of India:

Starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Nora Fatehi in lead roles, Bhuj:The Pride Of India is a Hindi-language war film. Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the movie shows the story of  300 Gujarati women who helped the Indian Airforce during the Bangladesh and Pakistan War. Although the film did not fare very well story wise, it was complimented for its visuals.

  • Kuruthi:

Directed by Manu Warrier, Kuruthi stars Prithiviraj Sukumaran, Roshan Mathew, Srindaa and Mamukkoya in lead roles. This Malayalam action-thriller film revolves around a police officer (Murali Gopy) barging in one night along with an accused in a religious hate crime into the household of Ibru (Roshan Mathew), who is grieving the loss of his wife and daughter in the landslide.What happens next forms the crux of the story. The movie is basically about the idea of enduring human relations transcending boundaries during a struggle to survive trials of hatred and prejudice.

  • Shershaah:

Starring Siddarth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and Shiv Pandit in lead roles, Shershaah is a biographical war film directed by Vishnuvardhan. It follows the story of Param-Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra from his entry into the army until his martyrdom in the Kargil War. The movie was released around Independence Day to celebrate our nationalism and patriotism. The movie received mixed reviews, but is a must-watch to relive the life of a martyr like Vikram Batra.

  • #Home:

Directed by Rojin Thomas, #Home is a Malayalam drama film starring Indrans, Sreenath Bhasi, Manju Pillai and Nalsen K Gafoor in lead roles. The story is about Oliver Twist, (Indrans) who wants to be tech-savvy and become a better companion to his two sons who spend more time on their phones than with their loved ones. The movie was initially not promoted much and was therefore not known to many. But, it received good reviews after it got advertised.

  • Dial 100:

Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Neena Gupta and Sakshi Talwar in lead roles, Dial 100 is a Hindi thriller Drama film, directed by Rensil D’Silva. The story is about Officer Nikhil, who receives a call from a hysterical woman determined to commit suicide. As officer Nikhil tries to calm her down, he discovers that the hysterical woman has bought a gun. When asked, she tells him to stay tuned to find out about her real intentions. But as time progresses, Nikhil realises his family is in danger. The rest of the movie is about how he saves his family.

  • Engineering Girls:

Season 1 of Engineering Girls, a comedy-drama streaming television series, was released in 2018. Post this, season 2 of the series has been released recently. Starring Krithika Avasti, Barkha Singh and Sejal Kumar, Engineering Girls revolves around the life of three engineering students and the struggles they face in college. It is a limited series with 5 episodes in each season. The first season is available on Netflix.

  • Kasada Thapara:

Starring Sudeep Kishan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Harish Kalyan, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Premgi Amaren among many others, Kasada Thapara is a Tamil Drama film directed by Chimbu Devan. Following the theory of the butterfly effect, the movie talks about the lives of a few individuals who get impacted, both in good and bad ways, by the actions of others who are hardly connected to them. The movie has received great reviews on its release.
