Ever since the lockdown began, OTT platforms have become famous and have made it easier for binge-watchers to watch movies and shows from home. On the other hand, various platforms are also releasing a variety of movies and series in their respective platforms. Here are 10 movies and Series that were released on OTT in October!

 

  • Ammu:

Ammu revolves around the life of Ammu (Aishwarya Lekshmi) who ties the knot to her neighbour Inspector Ravi (Naveen Chandra). What she does when he becomes a domestic abuser, forms the rest of the story. The movie’s writing was not convincing enough, but the overall message of the film was extremely good. Aishwarya Lekshmi’s performance was the most complimented.

  • Mismatched:

Mismatched is a Hindi coming-of-age Romantic Drama web series based on a novel titled ‘When Dimple Met Rishi’. The series stars Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli in lead roles, and Vihaan Samat, Devyani Shorey, Taaruk Raina, Muskkaan Jaferi amongst many others in supporting roles. Directed by  Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, the series just saw the release of its second season. The second series is a fun and engaging watch, and might remind you of your college days.

  • Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu:

God or devil': VTK trailer promises to be a gritty gangster drama

Gautam Vasudev Menon’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu was released in theatres on September 15, 2022. After having a wonderful run in theatres, the movie has now been released on OTT, on October 13th. The story was written by author Jeyamohan and stars Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles. The story revolves around a young low-caste village boy who travels to Mumbai to earn a living and to study. His quest takes him on a series of unexpected events, where he gets involved in the underground activities of Mumbai’s Tamil gangsters.

  • Kanam/Oke Oka Jeevitham:

Starring Sharwanand, Amala and Ritu Varma in lead roles, Oke Oka Jeevitham is a Telugu science-fiction drama directed by Shree Karthick. The movie is all about how friends travel back in time with help from a scientist. The film was bilingual and it was released simultaneously in Tamil as Kanam. The movie opened up to positive reviews and many felt that it was a really entertaining family watch.

  • Rendagam:

Arvind Swami & Kunchacko Boban's Rendagam to release on September 2 | Tamil  Movie News - Times of India

Directed by Fellini TP, Rendagam is a Tamil language action-thriller starring Aravind Swamy and Kunchacko Boban. Hoping to make some quick money, a jobless guy decides to help a mysterious gang extract a crucial piece of intel from an amnesiac underworld don. The movie did not fare well initially, but after rave reviews, the public have felt that the movie is very interesting to watch.

  • Dobaaraa:

New Releases: Among the new releases this week is TaapseePannu-starrer  Dobaara

Starring Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati, Dobaara directed by Anurag Kashyap is a Hindi sci-fi mystery thriller film. The movie is an official remake of the Spanish movie titled ‘Mirage’. The movie revolves around how in the middle of a mysterious thunderstorm, a mother saves someone’s life, which has unexpected consequences. The movie had a great opening at the theatres, and it was commended for its mind-blowing effects.

The famous Hindi feminist web series starring Maanvi Gagroo, VJ Bani, Sayani Gupta and Kriti Kulhari has released its 3rd season. The series, in short, revolves around the lives of Damini, Anjana, Siddhi and Umang, who all battle their own problems together as best friends. The third season was reviewed to be better than the second one. Some had critiqued that the storyline could have still been better. But it is considered overall a good watch.

  • Bimbisara:

Bimbisara is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language fantasy action film written and directed by debutant Mallidi Vassishta, and produced by N. T. R. Arts. It stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon and Prakash Raj.  In the film, King Bimbisara of the Trigartala Empire from the 5th century BC lands in the modern-day world through time travel. This period-drama film received mixed reviews. While some felt that it was a good watch, some others felt that it could have done much better.

Starring Dhanush, Elli AvrRam, and Indhuja in lead roles, Naane Varuvean is a Tamil psychological thriller directed by Selvaraghavan. The movie revolves around a good vs. evil kind of storyline. Dhanush has done a dual role in the film. Many critics felt that the movie could have had a better ending. However, the movie was an excellent watch in theatres as it was eerie and haunting.

  • Tripling:

Sumeet Vyas, Maanvi Gagroo, Amol Parashar in first look poster of Tripling season 3.

Directed by Sameer Saxena, the third season of the series was just released on OTT. This Hindi web series stars Amol Parashar, Sumeet Vyas and Maanvi Gagroo in lead roles. It traces the story of three siblings, who together start a hilarious journey to find themselves and their relationships. The first two seasons of the series are quite the laughter riot and the third season also has an intriguing screenplay.
