Ever since the lockdown began, OTT platforms have become famous and have made it easier for binge-watchers to watch movies and shows from home. On the other hand, various platforms are also releasing a variety of movies and series in their respective platforms. Here are 10 movies and Series that were released on OTT in July!

 

  • Modern Love-Hyderabad:

Starring an ensemble cast including Revathy, Nithya Menen, Ritu Varma, Aadhi Pinnisetty, Suhasini and other, Modern Love- Hyderabad is an anthology series of the Modern Love franchise, set in Hyderabad. The 6 episode series is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Uday Gurrala, Devika Bahudhanam and Venkatesh Maha. The series explores various definitions of love and modern love, including mother-daughter, father-daughter and other such relationships. Nagesh Kukunoor’s short films received great appreciation out of the lot.

  • O2:

Directed by GS Viknesh, O2 is a Tamil film starring Nayanthara and Rithvik in lead roles. The film’s story revolves around a mother and son who get trapped in a landslide along with other passengers in a bus. Parvathy has to survive and keep the oxygen flowing into her son Veera’s body. How she manages to safeguard her son’s oxygen tank amidst heavy demand forms the crux of the story. Nayanthara and Rithvik’s performances was commendable in the film.

  • Virata Parvam:

Starring Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati, Venu Udugula’s Virata Parvam has Priyamani, Naveen Chandra and Nandita Das playing supporting roles. This Telugu period drama film is about Vennela who is captivated by the poems of a renegade warrior on a lethal mission. A naïve yet defiant young woman, she follows her heart into the depths of a revolution, just to be with the man she loves. The film was deemed to be a truly women-centric film that looked into the life of the character Vennela.

  •  Meme Boys: 

Directed by Drishya and Rajiv Rajaram, Meme Boys is a TV Series that  revolves around a college boys group, who make hilarious comments on college management and other things, using memes. This is fun and comic series starring Adithya Bhaskar, Devadharshini Balamurugan, Jayanth and Nikhil Nair amongst others. The series is a coming-of-age drama that deals with the modern revolution of the meme world.

  • Ante Sundaraniki:

Starring Nani and Nazriya Fahadh, Ante Sundaraniki directed by Vivek Athreya is a Telugu romantic-comedy film. The movie revolves around a Hindu man and a Christian girl who fall in love and who enter the world of lies to make their parents accept their relationship. Whether they succeed or not forms the rest of the story. The movie is a really fun romantic-comedy to watch with family after a tiring day.

  • Veetla Vishesham:

This Tamil film directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan is the official remake of the Hindi film Badhai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana. This film stars RJ Balaji, Sathyaraj, Urvashi, Aparna Balamurali and Visvesh. The movie is about how 2 brothers and their family deals with the news of their mother having a late pregnancy. The film was a super-hit in Hindi, and in Tamil it was appreciated for being a good remake.

  • Paper Rocket:

Directed by Kiruthiga Udayanidhi, Paper Rocket is a Tamil web-series starring Kalidas Jayaram, Tanya Ravichandran, Gauri Kishan, Karunakaran, Renuka and Poornima Bhagyaraj in lead roles. The series is a drama surrounding six strangers who go on a road trip across Tamil Nadu to get closure on their personal challenges. In the trip, each one wants to fulfil a major wish in their bucket list. But it’s a bumpy ride. Will they be able to fulfil their wishes? The series is said to be a feel good one about closure and grief.

  • The Gray Man:

  • Major:

Major is a Telugu biographical action film starring Adivi Sesh, Saiee Manjrekar, Sobitha Dhulipala and Revathi in lead roles. Directed by Shashi Kiran Tikka, the film is about the life of Maj. Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who fought against terrorists and was killed in action during the 2008 attacks at the Taj Palace Hotel in Mumbai, India. The film was really enjoyed by the Telugu film audience, but did not perform very well in Bollywood.

Roketry : The Nambi Effect marks actor Madhavan’s directorial debut. The movie stars Simran and Madhavan in lead roles, while Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan have played cameos in Tamil and Hindi respectively. The movie is said to be a biography of the scientist Nambi Narayanan.
